Just as the Personal Advocate is the linchpin of the Stay at Home America services team, the Personal Assistant is the “go-fer” of our organization.
The Personal Assistants role is to directly support the client to whatever degree necessary based on each clients unique needs.
Following the Personal Advocate’s assessment of each clients needs, the Stay at Home team provides a list of recommended services, along with any associated costs. Based on the services selected by the client, or the clients family members or designated representative, a Personal Assistant will be assigned to provide daily lifestyle support services.
These services will generally fall into two categories:
Pre-planned services that are scheduled and budgeted in advance, and services that are sporadic and unplanned.
Pre-planned services might include the following:
Activities of daily living
Personal care
Grooming
Companion care
Medication assistance
Arranging for a weekly housecleaning
Providing coordination and transportation to scheduled medical and care providers
Transportation to pre-arranged appointments such as hair salons, barbers, and social events
Transportation for shopping, church, visiting friends and family, and miscellaneous errands
Weekly food preparation and kitchen cleanup activities
Weekly laundry assistance
Arranging for routine auto maintenance
Providing respite care
Unplanned services might include the following:
Unscheduled visits to friends or relatives
Assistance cleaning up spills
Urgent items such as replacing light bulbs, dealing with a power outage, etc.
Assistance with pets; trips to the veterinarian
Assistance with coordinating unplanned auto maintenance / repairs
Any number of other items that come up requiring short-term assistance
All members of the Stay at Home America team are aware of the vulnerability of some of our clients. The Personal Assistant works closely with our clients, often on a daily basis, and works in both a reactive and proactive way to improve the clients comfort level in dealing with day-to-day issues.
And, like other members of the Stay at Home America team, the Personal Assistant goes through a thorough background check, is bonded, and required to sign an agreement to not accept any gifts or bequests from any of our clients.
