The Home Specialist is a qualified, skilled professional capable of assessing both current and possible future issues related to the ongoing safety and comfort of the client’s home.
Like other Stay at Home America service providers, the Home Specialist is required to go through our thorough screening process, including a background check and bonding to ensure the safety and security of our clients.
Our goal is to provide a professional home assessment, with no hidden agendas, and offer suggested improvements, with no pressure, and always with the safety, security and comfort of the client being the foremost consideration. The Home Specialist is well trained in looking for areas of repair or improvement that will reduce the possibility of an emergency situation.
Stay at Home America Home Specialists include employees who are experienced in housecleaning, yard work, handyman services, safety upgrades, and small remodeling projects. Should the client choose to work with Stay at Home America to provide any necessary home maintenance services, written estimates will be provided by the Home Specialist detailing all costs, options and timelines, and, once approved, all services will be provided by authorized Stay at Home America contractors who report to our Director of Home Services. Of course, Stay at Home America clients are always free to use their own contractors or service providers.
We do all the necessary work up front to protect our Stay at Home America clients.
Services provided by the Home Specialist
The interior home assessment covers areas that could fail such as stairway handrails and safety bars; areas that could become a danger such as unsafe electrical wiring, slippery floors or loose carpeting; areas that could possibly do damage such as leaking showers; and all passive safety items such as smoke alarms and CO2 detectors. The interior assessment is provided for each room in the client’s home, as well as the garage, basement and attic.
Beyond the interior home assessment, additional home services might include:
Handyman services – as needed
Housecleaning
Painting, remodeling, or any general contracting needs
Annual or semi-annual maintenance of heating and cooling systems
Winterizing services
Install any safety or mobility features required for seniors and clients with disabilities
The exterior home assessment focuses on the exterior condition of the client’s home, paying particular attention to the roof, chimney, skylights, gutters, siding and similar areas which, if failed, would allow water, insects or rodents to enter the home. Special attention is paid to all handrails to ensure they are not loose, and decks and porches to ensure they are in good repair and not slippery in order to prevent accidents and falls.
Beyond the exterior home assessment, additional home services might include:
Periodic yard maintenance including mowing, pruning, help with gardening
Yard clean up and debris removal
Winterizing
Caulking repair
Cleaning gutters
General contracting for any major home repairs
Cleaning clutter out of attics, basements or garages
Installing any safety or mobility features required for clients with disabilities
At the clients request on larger home repairs such as a new roof, water heater replacement, major electrical upgrades and similar repairs as well as major house remodels or renovations, the Home Specialist will assist in identifying appropriate contractors, negotiating with contractors, and ensuring that the service provider selected meets and agrees to Stay at Home America standards.
