The ongoing physical maintenance of a home is often the biggest challenge faced by seniors and adults with disabilities wanting to stay in their homes.

If needed, Stay at Home America can offer a unique solution by assigning an experienced Home Specialist to oversee the physical upkeep of the clients home. Stay at Home America is licensed by Oregon’s Construction Contractors Board, CCB #186153 and our Director of Home Services is a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS).

The role of the Home Specialist is to ensure that the physical aspect of maintaining the home is not the driving factor in forcing the client to leave the community. A key benefit of this service is the ability to identify most problems before they become an emergency for the client.

The Home Specialist will coordinate with the Personal Advocate in conducting a formal home assessment to evaluate the overall condition and safety of the clients home, both interior and exterior, with a focus on safety, preventative maintenance, and any changes necessary to accommodate the clients unique lifestyle requirements. Then, based on any special client needs, we will recommend repairs or enhancements to make the home safer, more comfortable, and reduce the possibility of emergency situations.

A report on the home assessment is provided in writing, with no pressure or obligation whatsoever for the client to make any suggested changes or repairs. Should the client elect to use our employees to make any handyman repairs or safety upgrades to the home, Stay at Home will detail the cost, frequency and/or time estimate to completion. Should the client require home renovations, remodeling, or repairs that require specialized professionals such as plumbers, roofers or general contractors, we will assist the client in finding professionals who are reputable, bonded and meet the highest standards of our organization.
